Miami Lakes, FL--After coming off an upset win Saturday evening against Fayetteville Lady Rush, the Fort Lauderdale Lions looked to do it all over again Sunday morning as they took on the St. Louis Surge. The length of the Surge did not seem to be an issue in the opening moments of the game, but down the stretch it became a major defect for the Lions. The score remained close throughout the game, with the Lions having the largest lead of 8 points on a 43-35 halftime score.
The Surge battled their way back with consistent inside play. The dominance of Jaleesha Butler, who led the Surge with 21 points, left the Lions puzzled on how to defend her. Ericka Haney's game high 26 points kept the Lions in the game by her finishing plays and getting to the line. In the closing seconds of the game, the Lions gave up a crucial 3-point play which would give the Surge a 5 point lead and a secured victory on a final score of 75-70.
