On Wednesday evening, the team came away with a 3 - 2 win in a 10-inning WSBL Championship thriller.
The St Boniface Legionaires jumped out to an early start with a run in the first off a sacrifice fly by Justin Anderson. They then proceeded to score another in the fourth inning.
The Mudcats got on the board in the fifth inning with a 2 RBI single by Wes Pomarensky. Then the pitching took over.
Legionaires starter Chris Norquay pitched all ten innings in a solid effort. Mudcats starter Aaron Friesen threw 9 strong, only surrendering 4 hits and giving up 2 runs. Angus Klassen came into the game in the 10th inning to record the win.
The walkoff hit came off the bat of Aaron Hildebrandt in the bottom of the 10th with Pomarensky scoring the run.
Game 3 goes Monday, September 3rd at Whittier Park.
