Posted Sep 17/12 - Wesmen to play second annual 100-inning marathon game

In an effort to raise both awareness and funds, the U of Winnipeg Varsity Men's baseball team will play at Shaw Park on Saturday, September 22 starting at 10:00 AM.

Admission to watch the proceedings will be free, but the players are gathering pledges in the community.

Last year's event raised $13,000 and this year, their target is $18,000. The Club would like to see that amount surpassed.

Here is a note from one of the key people moving the program forward:

Saturday September 22nd is fast approaching. The University of Winnipeg Baseball Team is hosting our second annual marathon game.

This is a 100% community funded team, the players pay $2,000 dollars to play and our staff gives their time for the love of the game. We receive no funding from the University and your contribution is much appreciated.

The funds raised in conjunction with this game will fund our spring trip to the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The University of Winnipeg will issue a tax receipt for any donation over $10.00.

Available here, is a poster for the event, plus here you will find a breakdown of membership levels in our our booster club and a letter that can be given to your organization or other potential sponsors.

Right up there with your personal financial support, the next best gift you can give the program is to pass along this message to your friends and business colleagues.
