Posted Dec 2/12 - Ending of Lac La Biche Tournament

The Kings had a hard fought battle in the Lac La Biche Tournament with a overall record of 1-2 playing a total of 3 games. After a long and tiring drive up, the boys had to wake up earlier for a game @11:45am the following morning. Playing the St Paul Canadiens, the Kings got off to a slow start in the first period giving up 4 quick goals making it a 4-1 deficit after 20 minutes. After finally waking up in between periods, the boys stormed back scoring 6 goals and only allowing 1. The final resulted with a 7-5 win making it a good start on the road. The second game that day was @5:15pm against the hosting Lac La Biche Clippers. With an entertaining first period, the score was 1-1 heading into the intermission. In the second, the legs of the Edmonton boys started to get tired letting the opposing team score two goals to give them a 3-1 lead which eventually  led to a 4-1 final after an empty net goal from the Clippers. The third game of the tournament was the next day @8am versus Whitefish Lake. It was a tough first period after Whitefish turned on thier jets early taking a 2-0 lead going into the dressing rooms. After the flood, the second period wasn't much better as Whitefish alarmed the Kings firing 4 goals past Edmonton's goaltender. After a well deserved speech in the dressing room, the Kings came out playing hard hoping to capture a goal but nothing could get past the goalie from Whitefish. Nearing the end of the period, the game started to get a little chippy as it always does as Whitefish had a total of 29 minutes of penalties plus two game misconducts while the Kings only had 16 minutes. The Kings unfortunately didn't get to play another game that night for a medal but had a good overall tournament that showed a lot of what they can prove.

It was a great time up there for everyone including the parents with some entertaining hockey. Thank you to all of the parents who helped make the activities happen and run smoothly. A special thanks to the Tilley's who kindly invited all of the players and parents over for dinner on saturday night! Hope all of the driving conditions were okay for everyone. Everyone had a great time overall!
