Hollywood, FL---The Fort Lauderdale Lions won their season opener against Brevard Flame on Saturday night 61-49. There were a lot of kinks for the Lions to iron out, as it was evidenced by their 26 turnovers. Somehow the Lions managed to hold a narrow margin of lead and finally held off the Flame to finish their first game with a victory.  

LaShonda Gaines led the Lions with 17points 5 rebounds and 5assists. Shirley McCall poured in 13 points and 10 rebounds. 

Although undersized, the Lions controlled the boards as they had three players each in double figure rebounds. K. Green, Smith and McCall each had 10 rebounds apiece. 

The Lions will host the Jacksonville Knighthawks Saturday, May 18, 2013 @7pm.
