Posted Jan 2/10 - Panthers move to 3-0 in District 25-5A play with 77-44 win over Anderson behind Itiana Taylor (22 points) and Adesuwa Ebomwonyi (17 points)

AUSTIN, Texas -- Behind sophomore forward Itiana Taylor's game-high 22 points, 19 of them coming in the first half, the No. 7 ranked Pflugerville Panthers posted a 77-44 win over Anderson in District 25-5A play Saturday at Anderson HS. Joining Taylor as top Panther performers were the forward duo of junior Adesuwa Ebomwonyi (pictured) with 17 points, seven rebounds and senior Christie Mooney (15 points).

The win moves Pflugerville to 17-4 overall and to 3-0 in the District.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 5 when they host Austin HS in a 7:30 p.m. District contest at the Panther Gym.

JV, Freshman Gold & Blue squads also pick up wins over Anderson

The Panther junior varsity continued its winning ways with an 80-37 win over Anderson's JV squad. The P'ville JV is now 18-1 overall (3-0 in the District) and was paced by three in double-figure scoring. Freshman post Diana Omozee led the way with 16 points while freshman guard Taliyah Brooks and forward Jonelle Smith added 12 points each.

The Pflugerville Freshman Gold (A) team also moved to 18-1 (3-0 in District) by earning a 66-27 win as guard/forward Destini Oakman (17 points), guard/forward Mackenzie Browning (15 points) and post Raven Swain (10) paced the Panther attack. P'ville jumped out to a 39-17 edge at halftime, and each Panther player scored in the contest.

The Panther Freshman Blue (B) squad defeated Anderson, 48-20, led by Tatyana Dawson King with 16 points, Vanessa English with 13 and Cayla Ross with eight points. The Freshman Blue are now 3-5 overall and 1-0 in district action.

All three teams return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 5 against Austin High. Prior to the 7:30 p.m. varsity game, the Freshman Gold play at 5:15 p.m., follow by 6:30 p.m. contests between the P'ville-Austin Freshman Blue and junior varsity squads.
