Posted Jan 8/10 - Panthers stop District opponent Akins, 74-55, behind career-high 30 points from sophomore Itiana Taylor
AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 15 state-ranked Pflugerville Panthers used a career-high 30 points from sophomore forward Itiana Taylor (pictured) en route to a 74-55 victory over Akins HS Friday night at Akins. The win moves Pflugerville to 19-4 and keeps the Panthers atop the District 25-5A standings at 5-0.

The Panthers pulled ahead 41-27 at intermission. P'ville got big contributions from junior point guard Curtiesha Woods, who netted 12 points, and from sophomore forward Adesuwa Ebomwonyi, who collected another double-double with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. With her career-best scoring effort, Taylor went 10 for 11 from the free throw line and added a game-high four steals. Senior forward Christie Mooney had a season-high and game-best six asssists.

Pflugerville returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 12, hosting Bowie HS on "PHS Youth/Middle School Night" at the Panther Gym. The varsity contest tips at 7:30 p.m. and prior to that, the freshmen Gold (A) squads face off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the junior varsity and freshman Blue (B) games at 6:30 p.m., with the JV game in the main Panther Gym and the frosh game in the small gym.



Panther JV registers 20th win with 78-27 victory over Akins, Freshman Gold also victorious


Freshman post Diana Omozee notched 13 points to lead the Pflugerville JV to a 78-27 win Friday night at Atkins HS.

The win lifts the Panther JV to 20-1 overall and the squad remains undefeated in District play with a 5-0 mark. Joining Omozee in double-figure scoring were sophomore post Stacy Ogunirinade (12 points) and freshman forward Amy Staha (11 points).

The Panther Freshman Gold (A) squad also improved to 20-1 with a 74-40 win over their Akins counterparts. Pflugerville jumped out to an early lead of 23-9 after one quarter, and cruised to their fifth win in five tries in district action. Mackenzie Browning (20 points), Taylor Ross (16 points) and Raven Swain (10) led the way.
