Posted Feb 8/10 - PINK ZONE: Please WEAR PINK to the Pflugerville-Connally Feb. 9th game to support the fight against cancer; a win gives Pflugerville the outright District title
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- Support the nation-wide fight against cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 9 and rally behind the efforts of the Pflugerville and Connally HS girls basketball teams at"PINK ZONE NIGHT"when the two squad meet at Pflugerville's Panther Gym in the regular season finale.
A win Tuesday gives the Panthers (26-5, 12-1 in the district) the outright District 25-5A title for the second consecutive year. Pflugerville has clinched at least a tie with Westlake and Connally for the crown, but a win over Connally gives head coach Nancy Walling's club the 25-5A championship outright.
The District 25-5A varsity game is set for a 7:30 p.m. tip and also is "Senior Night" for the Panthers. The Pflugerville Panthers are officially registered as supporting the nation-wide effort by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) to fight cancer and support the Kay Yow/Jimmy V Cancer Fund.
Both Pflugerville and Connally are requesting:
1. We will ask everyone to wear PINK to the game. Coaches and staff, official table statisticians, scorers, etc, all will be wearing pink. The Pflugerville Panther team is wearing SPECIAL one-time pink uniforms, graciously donated annonymously to our program.
2. We want everyone to invite a cancer survivor to the game, and we will have pink carnations for them to wear.
3. Pflugerville has begun selling pink/paper ribbons for $1, to put on display in the gym lobby ... the ribbons say "Donation made in Honor of _______ (you fill in the cancer victim/survivor) ... these were a popular purchase for our fans at last week's game, so THANK YOU!
