Posted Feb 9/10 - Pflugerville JV and Freshmen "A" squads go undefeated (14-0) in District play; both finish season an impressive 29-1

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas – Success continues at all levels of the Pflugerville girls basketball program. The Pflugerville junior varsity and freshmen "A" (Gold) teams both capped terrific seasons by going undefeated in District play. Both Panther squads picked up victories over Connally Tuesday in home contests, with April Ellickson's JV squad winning 87-37 and Patrick Hinson's freshman "A" team registering a 52-34 win.

Both Panther teams finished 14-0 in District play.

Impressively, each Panther team went a sparkling 29-1 on the season, dominating many opponents with strong defensive efforts each outing. The Freshman “A” squad’s lone loss, however, was against it own JV team in the December Pflugerville JV/Freshmen Tournament, so the freshmen went undefeated against all other freshmen opponents.

In their final game of the year, as with each of the previous games, the Panther JV jumped out to an early lead. The JV held a 23-8 edge after one quarter and pushed the lead to 51-19 at the half. The Panthers were paced by freshman guard Tayliah Brooks’ game-high 18 points while freshman post Diane Omozeehad 17 points, freshman forward Amy Staha chipped in with 11 and junior post Stacy Ogunirinade had 10.

Raven Swain collected a game-high 17 points while Destini Oakmon added 15 points to lead the freshman A squad to its 18-point win.

The freshmen Blue team did not compete Tuesday. They finished their season under Coach Tamara Sansome with a 9-5 record.
