Posted Aug 6/12 - Angels win silver at Provincials.

On a hot, sunny day in Richmond,  the Angels took a roller coast ride of emotion, treating their fans to an excellent day of baseball.  Playing the semi-final game against Cloverdale Black, the Angels knew they had to bring their "A" game.  Jordan pitched masterfully, throwing a 93 pitch complete game that kept Cloverdale's batters guessing and off the base pads for most of the game. On the offensive side, although Abbotsford's bats were also quiet for most of the game, they capitalized on the base-runners that they did put on and managed to eek out a 3-2 victory in 7 innings.

This set up a re-match in the final game of the day against Vancouver Mounties. Austen started on the mound and pitched well. Keaton came in to relieve and also pitched a great game.  The Angels managed to take an early 3-2 lead but some unfortunate errors resulted in Vancouver coming back with 4 runs to take a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.   The Angels batters dug deep and this resulted in having bases loaded with Liam, Sheldon and Tanner on base with one out.  Jereymi stepped up and hit an incredible shot to the right field fence to score two runs. The hit was 6 inches away from being a grand slam.  With runners now on 3rd and 2nd, the Angels were unable to score another run and the Mounties ended up with the 6-5 victory. The Angels should be proud of their accomplishment.

It is not over though as they will now travel to Saskatchewan to represent BC in the Western Championships from August 16 to August 20.  Good luck Angels!
