Posted Jun 7/12 - Outlaws Still Searching for First Win

Baumgartner's strong pitching performance is all for none as the Outlaws drop two games in St. Peter.

Outlaws-1 vs. Braemar-2

The first game of the twin bill was vs Braemar and would prove to be a true pitchers dual.  Sam Baumgartner was on the bump for the Outlaws in his first pitching performance of 2012.  Sammy didn't disappoint as he cruised through the first 5 innings.  The Outlaws grabbed a 1-0 advantage in the 4th inning as Jeff Drent reached on a walk.  Troy Fritz followed with a grounder to short that snuck under the Braemar SS's glove into left field.  Travis Schuett provided the only offense of the weekend by driving in Drent with an RBI single.

Sam held the lead into the 6th inning.  This is where the wheels fell off for the Outlaw's defense.  A walk along with a single and two errors allowed Braemar to score 2 unearned runs.

Braemar's Gary Fritch proved to be too much for the Outlaws bats to handle as he finished out the game and secured a 2-1 win for the Bees.  Fritch pitched a complete game striking out 4 while walking ony 1 and surrendering only 1 unearned run.  Fritch was also 3 for 3 at the plate.  What a day!!!

Baumgarter also had a very impressive showing on the losing side.  Sammy pitched a complete game 7 innings, struck out 5 and did not give up an earned run.

Outlaws-0 vs. St. Peter-10

There is really only one highlight for the Outlaws in this game.

Jeff Miller took the hill and had his first mound time of the 2012 season.  After surrendering 2 runs in the first Miller found his groove.  Jeffrey struck out 8 St. Peter hitters over 3 and 1/3rd innings of work.  After Miller tired in the 4th, Troy Fritz came on with one out and pitched the final two outs.

After the 4th the only thing is can say is that St. Peter showed the Outlaws they need a bit more work to be in their class of over 35 baseball.
