Ryan Meyer was 2 for 3 on the day with the only Outlaw's hits. Shakopee Chiefs-1 / Outlaws-0 Not much to write about offensively for either squad as the Southwest Outlaws played host to an 8 man Shakopee Chiefs team. Jeff Miller locked horns with Shakopee's starter (I don't have a name) as both pitchers blazed through their opposing lineups. Shakopee would strike for the only run of the game with a two out rally in the 4th inning. That would be the extent of the scoring on the day as Miller held the Chiefs to 4 hits over 7 innings while striking out 5 in his complete game effort. Ryan Meyer provided the only offense for the Outlaws as he doubled in the 1st inning and lined a single in the third. The Outlaws threatened a few times but never had a runner past second base. The only thing resembling a threat occurred in the third inning. With two outs Sam Baumgartner was hit by a pitch followed by Meyer's second hit of the day, a line drive single to right. With runners on first and second Paul Oelrich drilled a ball to the right center field gap. With two outfielders the Chiefs had the gaps covered and the outfielder made a very nice running catch just shy of the fence to end the inning. With the loss the Outlaws drop to 8-4 and look forward to next week as they travel to LeSueur MN to take on the Edina Grays at 11:00am. |
