June 2,2016 Rockets defeat Mariners 2-1

Portland rockets renewed their rivalry with the grand lake mariners wed nite at Montgomery Field, Celina.  Wood bat baseball, 9 inn. Great crowd, playoff atmosphere on astro turf, 2 hr 50 min and it was intense,  Portland rockets 2 Grand lake mariners 1

Maybe it was yogi berra, the great soothsayer, who said of turf, “if cows cant eat off it, I don’t want to play on it” this observer notes rockets liked it 0 errors and many a stellar defensive play to save the day.

Get off the bus gus, rocket scored 2 in the first, and that held up for all nine inn.

Dalton tinsley walked and scored on billy geeslins single, he scored on Mitch waters double,

Rockets had 5 hits, zach tanner, alex delk, Kevin sharpe, and tristen becher also had hits.

The mariners had 6 hits but the story line here

Rocket pitching …winner Derek thobe of coldwater was dealing, 4 inn. 1 run on 2 hits, then 4 rocket relievers finished it out, dan borchers from Versailles, billy geeslin big time punch outs with traffic on the basepaths, alex delk, then mitch waters in the ninth and rockets win , rockets win.

Recall last year Portland beat Celina twice in one run games, now this victory to be shortlived, the rivalry continues, Celina grand lake mariners are coming to Portland Friday nite, 705 start at runkle-miller field,

Rocket rally Portland, come support the home team and lets make it a ruckus rocket rally

Lets call it golf cart nite, bring your golf cart and get a drink and a popcorn free

Of course you have to stay and root root root for the home team.

Great to see fun baseball people in coldwater, I will post a picture of Ralph Schweiterman in his old coldwater moon uniform,  yes Ralph is kennys brother, and he ws quick to point out, we ate wings at mcsobers in record fashion.
