Portland rockets split DH with lamargarita blues, 9-7, in 9 innings, lose 7-3 6/20/10

Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland,

Happy 1^st day of summer, officially 7:28 am. This day June 21, 2010

Portland rocket baseball in ft wayne vs. the lamargarita blues,  Sunday , a DH split rockets eak out a 9-7 win in xtra innings in game one, but lose the nightcap 7-3.

Portland needed some late inning heroics from outfielder mark isenberg and some gusty

Pitching in traffic by billy geeslin to nail down the nailbiter in 9 innings.

Down by 2, in the last inning Portland down to its last out, mark isenberg drove a ball to the right centerfield fence to score corey scott and Derek mouncy  and tie the game at 7-7. isenberg again with 2 out and the bases loaded in the 9^th laced a single to left to score 2 and billy geeslin put the fork in em pitching a scoreless 7^th , 8^th  and 9^th for the win.

I am now a wes-del warrior fan, mark isenberg 23, out of ball state coaches baseball for wel del with his brother.  I bet there will be some of those guys at our home game Tuesday rooting him on. Rockets had 11 hits, 2 each by isenberg, riley muhlenkamp and Michael ingram.  Good to see back in action, 3 yrd  year rocket righthander eathen tribolet.  Tribolet from Huntington was tough thru 4 innings before giving way to forester teammate will walters. Walters gave up 5 runs in the 5^th but geeslin was in just in time to save the day. 

Billy geeslin came thru and it was like a personal gift to me on father’s day. And happy fathers day everyone. Billy’s dad jim was a rocket pitcher for many years and to see #17  out there, a spittin image of his dad, what a treat.  I made sure to wear my dad’s socks yesterday,  back when he wore 2 of them anyway.

Game 2 not so el grande.

A 6^th run 1^st  roughed up starter tyler mills, and we never recovered in game 2 losing the nitecap 7-3. we had an extra delay a wild pitch broke the umpire’s hand ouch,,,, a replacement was called in .Derek mounsey and tyler palmer kept the game close. A 2 run single by Justin branock made the score 7-3 in the 5^th but we stranded baserunners in every inning but the 7^th.  Ex rocket and family favorite matt ousley was on hand to close out the game for the blues.  Great to see john and Karen ousley at the game. John said matt should have pitched the 1^st game for us , and the second for them. 

This just in, Justin branock gets a doctor report mri on his arm today, john clawson on vacation, rockets pick up new catcher matt hitt of fishers Indiana.  Matt played at kewaukee ill. This spring headed to eastern mich. This year.  A very fine pickup with a great baseball name, matt hitt.

You know its summer when its jubilee time in ft. recovery and it was rocking on sat.nite

Grove hill band putting on the hits. Good stuff . and well done lori thein the jubilee a success.  We had a tribute to my friend big P, paul staugler and ami his daughter gave me a hug afterward.  Sweet/ hey happy birthday gary Bernard big 40 and john brigham

Baseball in Portland tuesnite 7pm vs crumback-symons,  a home game at last.  Lets give ft.wayne something to talk about.  Last year I recall one ft. wayne player remark as he came past the lunching pad  “wow, these guys take it serious”
darn bet ya,  Portland is ready and we will fight the good fight with Derek mounsey of Yorktown on the mound.
