Posted Aug 6/10 - Round One of NABF Regionals - Cincinnati Cobalts 4 Portland Rockets 1
Good morning baseball fans! It’s a beautiful day in Portland!

The Portland Rockets played in round one of the North Central NAB Baseball Regionals in Cincinnati last evening and lost to Cincinnati Cobalts 4-1.

Game was a close one through 6 innings as score stood 2-1 against the Cincy league and City Champions. As you may recall Portland defeated the Cincinnati Chiefs last Friday in the World Baseball Congress Tournament in Portland 10-1. They will be our opponent at Roselawn Park tonight at 6:30 pm.

Rockets dented the plate first when Heath Williams (the straw that stirs the drink) walked, stole second, and scored on Bryan Brudi’s ground out. But, that would be it for the offense, in fact the Cobalt pitcher fired at no-hitter as only 2 rockets reached base, Williams and Muhlenkamp via walks. Dan Bollenbacher battled thru 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, striking out 5. Tyler Mills gave up 2 runs in the last inning.

Cincinnati Cobalts record 18-8; Rocket record now 18-18.

The Rockets regroup tonight vs. the Cincinnati Chiefs at 6:30 at Roselawn Park with Bill Geeslin on the mound. Returning at a great time is infielder, Justin Marrero, who arrived last night about 10 pm after his game with the Ohio Copperheads. He stayed in Kevin McCowan's room and we are happy to have him. Rockets win the 6:30 game and will play at 9pm as well tonight.

Nineteen Rockets, (well 20 counting me) are Ambassadors of Portland and were proud of them! Let's go Portland!
