Posted Jan 10/11 - Pflugerville's Jan. 11 home game with Georgetown billed as PISD Middle/Elementary School Night, Austin Toros "HS Game of the Week" with festivities, giveways
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- The Tuesday, January 11th District 16-5A showdown between Pflugerville and Georgetown - two of the state's top 10 teams - will have a lot of flavor and festivities surrounding the court. The 7:30 p.m. game matches Pflugerville (20-4), ranked No. 10 in the most recent Texas Basketball Coaches Association (TABC)/Tex Preps Basketball Magazine 5A weekly poll, against district opponent Georgetown (20-3), ranked second. Both teams are undefeated in district action to date with 4-0 marks.

The Pflugerville coaching staff is promoting PISD Middle School/PYBA (Pflugerville Youth Basketball Association)/Elementary School Night and the highly-entertaining Parkcrest Middle School drum line will perform at halftime.

In addition, as part of their community outreach program, the Austin Toros D-League pro basketball team has billed the game as the "High School Game of the Week". This is the first "game of the week" this year, and the first year of this program.

The Toros are supplying giveways, inviting U.S. Army representatives to attend and support the game, and will have the Toros mascot in attendance.

Each week the Toros, along with corporate partners US Army, Austin Community College and Dick' s Sporting Goods will highlight a signature varsity basketball match-up between two schools in Central Texas.

The game of the week spotlights high school boys and girls varsity basketball games and highlight outstanding players from the game. One game is chosen each week based on area high school coach submissions, and historic rivalries and talent match-ups. See more on the program HERE.

The Toros also host an annual Dennis Johnson Memorial High School All-Star game at the end of the regular season to recognize Central Texas senior standouts. Numerous PHS players have participated in this all-star game.

Get there early Tuesday night as a huge crowd is anticipated!
