University Parks Drive, Waco, Texas 76798 Full UIL Basketball Playoff Brackets (PDF) Two top 10 ranked 5A teams - and the top two squads from District 16-5A - will square off Saturday, Feb. 26 when Pflugerville (30-6) and Georgetown (31-3) meet in the UIL State Tournament Region II Championship Game (Final Eight). The contest takes place at 1 p.m. at Baylor University's Ferrell Center. Saturday's winner will represent Region II at next week's UIL State Tournament (Final Four). The State Tournament takes place Thursday-Saturday, March 3-5 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. The 5A Final Four will be played Friday (semifinals) and Saturday (championship). Head coach Nancy Walling's Panthers are making a UIL Regional Championship Game (Final 8) showing for the third time in the last four seasons, for the fourth time in the last seven years and for the 13th time in program history. The Panthers have advanced to the UIL State Tournament Final Four six times, including 2005 and 2009. On Friday, February 25, Pflugerville, 29-6 overall and ranked No. 10 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches/Tex Preps Basketball Magazine poll, defeated No. 4 ranked DeSoto High School 65-63 in overtime in the Region II semifinals. Georgetown, No. 2 in the TABC/Tex Preps poll, beat Killeen Ellison, 51-33 in the other semifinal. This week in the MaxPreps state poll (which is not divided by school divisions), the Panthers were No. 9, DeSoto was third and Georgetown seventh. This marks the third time that Pflugerville and Georgetown will meet this season. Pflugerville finished second in District 16-5A to Georgetown, who won both matchups this season: 58-50 on Jan. 11 at P'ville and 66-62 on Feb. 5 at Georgetown. In regional quarterfinal action on Feb. 22, Pflugerville defeated The Woodlands 62-47. P'ville earned its 19th Area Championship with a 65-50 Feb. 17 victory over No. 12 ranked Spring Dekaney. To start its playoff run, Pflugerville defeated Del Valle, 50-29, (Feb. 14) to earn the program's 23rd Bi-District championship and eighth in a row. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
