PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- Using a 14-4 scoring run in the final quarter and behind three seniors in double-figure scoring, the No. 2 state-ranked Pflugerville Panthers posted a 54-42 victory over No. 6 ranked Converse Wagner Tuesday night at the Panther Gym. Pflugerville, now 19-0, also sits in the No. 21 spot in this week's national MaxPreps XCellent 25  poll. Wagner, held to just seven points in the second period and four in the final quarter, is now 14-4.

Senior guard Bre Payne led the Panthers with 15 points while senior forward Diana Omozee and senior guard Amy Staha each added 12 points.

P'ville trailed by its largest margin of the season (22-12) with 5:40 to go in the second quarter before going on a 16-2 to close out the quarter and take a 28-24 lead into intermission. Six different Panthers scored in that run while the Panthers also forced the Thunderbirds into five turnovers in that span.

The game lead see-sawed back and forth in the third quarter before Pflugerville grabbed the lead for good when Staha hit a three-pointer from the baseline to break a 33-33 tie with 2:35 to go.

Omozee led the way with a team-high eight rebounds while senior guard Taylor Ross (four points) pulled down seven boards and had a game-best five assists.

Pflugerville returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 20, closing out their schedule prior to the Christmas holiday. The Panthers host Bowie High School in a 6:30 p.m. contest at the Panther Gym.
