Posted Feb 11/13 - UIL State Playoffs (Bi-District): Five score in double figures as nationally-ranked Pflugerville defeats Lake Travis, 87-24, in Bi-District playoff action

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas - Five players notched double-figure scoring as nationally-ranked Pflugerville posted an 87-24 victory over Lake Travis Monday evening in a UIL 5A Region 2 Bi-District playoff game held at PHS. Senior guard Brenisha Payne (pictured) and junior guard Alyssa Echols each notched game-highs of 15 points to lead the Panther attack.

The win lifts Pflugerville to 34-0 and advances the Panthers to the Area playoff round to face Klein Forest on Friday, Feb. 15. The game will take place at 7.m. at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station. Directions to A&M Consoliated are HERE.

Pflugerville, which moved up to No. 6 in this week's national MaxPreps Xcellent 25 poll, has clinched its 25th Bi-District championship in program history and its 10th in a row. This week, the Panthers also stand No. 9 in the national espnW Power 25 poll and are No. 15 in the USA Today Super 25 poll.

Klein Forest defeated Lufkin, 50-33, in a bi-district game also on Monday evening.

Pflugerville jumped out to leads of 27-5 after the first period and 43-12 at intermission. Lake Travis ends its season at 9-19 after placing fourth in District 15-5A.

Rounding out the Pflugerville double-figure scorers were senior forward Diana Omozee (14 points), senior post Jonelle Smith (11) and junior guard Stephanie Onyeje.

Payne led the Panther defense with a season-high and game-high eight steals. P'ville forced the Lady Cavaliers into 36 turnovers and the Panthers had 26 steals.

Smith pulled down six rebounds while Echols had game-bests of five assists and five steals.
