Posted Nov 19/10 - Panthers move into Greater Austin Tournament championship game with win over Arlington Martin, 49-36; face Midland in 1:30 p.m. title game Saturday
AUSTIN, Texas - With senior forward Adesuwa Ebomwonyi sparking a second-half run and key play off the bench, Pflugerville broke away with an 18-7 run in the third quarter en route to a 49-36 victory over Arlington Martin Friday night in the semifinals of the Greater Austin Area Tournament.

Pflugerville, now 5-1, advances to the tourney's championship game on Saturday, Nov. 20 and will face Midland at 1:30 p.m. for the title. The game will be played at the host site, McNeill HS. Martin, which was forced into 21 turnovers, is now 4-2.

Ebomwonyi finished with 10 points and game-high of nine rebounds and six steals.

With the first half play marred by fouls, the two teams were tied at halftime, 13-13. 

Headlining the Panthers' third period effort where they out-scored Martin 18-7, Ebomwonyi gave the Panthers the lead for good, 18-17 on a steal and layup with 4:55 to go in the period. The two teams traded baskets before senior guard Jasmyn Booker sank four consecutive free throws following technical fouls which extended P'ville's lead to 29-20 with 1:48 left. A putback by senior Shoniece Yett following a Martin turnover pushed the lead to 31-20 heading into the final quarter.

Pflugerville had 14 steals in the game, with Ebomwonyi accounting for six and sophomore guard Taliyah Brooks for four.

Brooks finished with nine points.  Senior post Nneka Enemkpali added eight points and game-highs of 10 rebounds and three blocks, while Yett chipped in with a season-high seven rebounds.

The Panthers went 21-for-32 from the foul line, while Martin was five-for-12 in free throws. Pflugerville held the rebounding edge, 50-31.

Pflugerville JV goes 3-1 at Lampasas Varsity Tournament

The Panther junior varsity, playing against varsity competition at the Lampasas Tournament, concluded two-day tourney play on Friday evening by defeating host Lampasas 67-45.

Pflugerville went 3-1 at the tournament and is now 6-1 on the year.

In the win over Lampasas, forward Jonelle Smith netted a team-high 15 points and forward Diana Omozee and guard Taylor Ross chipped in with 11 points apiece. Top defensive honors went to forward Brenisha Payne who held Lampasas top scorer to six points.
