As quickly as they were gone they are back...kind of. Early in the Season the Sandvipers lost starting Catcher Josh Meents to a separated throwing shoulder. While utility player Greg Shepard broke his ankle playing with the MSBL White Sox in the first game of the season. Both players made it back on the field this week, With Shepard playing in the White Sox double header last Sunday, and Meents was back behind the dish.

Shepard looked solid at the plate and had a quick inning pitched on the mound for the White Sox. Meents collected a hit in his return and caught the 1 hitter thrown by Kyle Clarke. But just as Meents was back, a back swing taken by the Ambushes catcher caught Meents in the 4th inning. At innings end he said it was sore but caught the rest of the game. Tuesday it was found that Meents broke the finger and will be getting surgery this week putting him back on the DL.

In other news the recently added Jason Hernandez informed the Sandvipers he was not going to be able to play this season as he has a conflict of schedule. We wish Jason the best and look forward to having him back when his schedule will allow. With the opening on the roster the Sandvipers added middle infielder Ryan Bagube from Riverside. Bagube played against the Ambush Sunday with the Sandvipers and reached base safely in both of his plate appearances.

Sandvipers are off this Sunday in observance of the Mothers Day holiday.
Next Game Sunday May 15th, 1pm versus the Nellis Raptors.
