The Waconia Lakers played the New Germany Dutchmen on Wednesday and Friday with the winner moving on in the Crow River Valleys North Division and the Lakers came out successful in both games. Wednesday night although the game was played at Lion's Field, Waconia took the role of the visiting team (New Germany doesn't have lights to hold a night game), so Ben Smothers lead off home run started the fireworks, later Ronnie Olson also delivered a blast and the Lakers were on ther way to an 11-0 victory.

With the bats working, Waconia played flawless defense and the pitching of Chris Bullis was outstanding. He gave up 1 hit over 6 innings, that batter was thrown out trying to steal 2nd by Jeff Chrest moments later.  Ben Smother came in to get some work in the 7th. Altogether the Lakers faced the minimum 21 batters from the Dutchmen's offense.

Friday night New Germany hung close for half of the game but in the end the Lakers took home the victory with a 9-2 win. Andrew Fredericksen pitched an impressive 4 inning to hold the game tight at 0-0. Brady Gibbs, Craig LaPlante, and Dalton Sawyer came in relief with Gibbs picking up the victory.
