The Lakers split a couple games on Sunday June 24 taking the first game 9-7 against the Mankato Mets and falling 7-2 to the Blue Earth Pirates in the Championship Game.

In the Mankato Game Eric Durkin took the hill for his first start of the season and threw a great game/ Chris Bullis came in in the 7th when the Mats started making some noise scoring 4 runs that inning.

Big at bats came from Chris and Kevin Bullis, each went 3-4 with Chris delivering the big blow of the day with a 3 run bases clearing double in a 7  run second inning. Nick Litfin contributed 2 solid hits and Ben Smothers, Jeremy Salden, and Peter Brown each delivered hits.

In the Championship game to No. 1 ranked Blue Earth the Lakers started well as Smothers led off with a double and scored when Chris Bullis grounded out. But the Pirates dominated all aspects of the game following that point. The Lakers only had 3 other hits for the night. Joining Smothers were Bullis, Jeremy Salden, and Nick Litfin..

The Hamburg Green Isle Tournament brings in many of the top teams in the State. While disappointed with the loss the Lakers were able to defeat some excellent teams in Nisswa, St Joes, and the Mankato Mets.

Three Lakers were selected to the All-Tournament team, Ben Smothers, Chris Bullis, and Kevin Bullis.

The Lakers have a busy week ahead with home games Tuesday and Wednesday vs. Glencoe then Hamburg followed by being in Meyer Saturday and then facing New Germany at home Sunday.
