The Lakers defeated the Green Isle Irish 6-2 Sunday wrapping up the Crow River Valley North Title, behind the solid pitching of Chris Bullis and Dalton Sawyer, and a 3 run homer from Craig LaPlante. Chris Bullis pitched 6 great innings for the Lakers, only allowing 1 run. Sawyer pitched the final 3 innings, striking out 3 batters and allowing no earned runs. After scoring 1 run in the 3rd inning, Waconia broke the game wide open in the 5th. They scored 5 runs in the inning, led by a 3-run home run by Laplante. Laplante and Ben Smothers each recorded 2 hits in the victory.The title allows the Lakers to take the No 1 slot in the playoffs and receive a first round bye before traveling to Young America for the final rounds.
