Thanks to 12 hits and some excellent pitching, Farming defeated New Munich 6-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Zach Posterick went the first four innings, allowing just one hit and one earned run. Craig Rausch pitched the final five innings to get the win, giving up just two hits and striking out six.
The Flames got the bats going eary. A two-run single in the first by Greg Holthaus gave the Flames the early lead. After New Munich tied things up in the top of the fouth, the Flames scored three times in the bottom of the inning. Chad Mergen led off with a single, and was sacrificed to second by Josh Linn. After a flyout, Mergen scored on a single by Derrick Roush. Craig Klein walked, and Chris Wehseler hit a Texas-league single to right, scoring both runners.
Farming added a final run in the seventh. Brent Mergen, who was 3-4 on the afternoon with two doubles, led off with a two-bagger to deep right. Ian Hoffarth sacrificed Mergen to third, and Craig Rausch followed with a sharp single to left.
Farming travels to Spring Hill on Sunday to face the Chargers at 1:30pm.
