The Flames surrendered 15 hits in route to a 11-2 loss to Lake Henry, on a blistering hot day in Farming.
Farming scored a run in the first on a single by Chris Wehseler, a single by Greg Holthaus, and an RBI single by Brad Mergen. In the sixth inning, the Flames scored their second run on singles by Greg and Brad, and a Lake Henry error. Later in the inning, the Flames loaded the bases with one out, but a double play ended the threat.
Chris went 2-for-4 on the afternoon, including a double. Greg and Brad had two hits apiece, and Chad Mergen and Nick Mergen had the other Farming hits.
A total of five pitchers took the hill for the Flames: Zach Posterick, Craig Rausch, Brent Mergen, Brad Mergen, and Aaron Nett. In addition, a number of reserves saw action too, includng Cody Fourre, Nick Mergen, Kyle Lieser, Mike Kotten, Erik Schmitt, Mitchell Thelen, and Kazz Ehlinger. So although the game result was not desireable, at least a lot of players saw some game action. That is more important now with the playoffs only a few weeks away.
With the loss, the Flames drop to 5-6 in the SCL South, good for third place in the SCL South and one game behind Lake Henry.
Next, Farming travels to St. Martin this Friday for an 8:15pm ballgame under the lights. There is no game this coming Sunday.
