Craig Rausch pitched a complete game shutout as the Flames beat the Rangers 2-0 in Roscoe. Craig threw fewer than 100 pitches during his brilliant outing, which took only two hours or so. He gave up just four hits, struck out five, and didn't walk a single batter.
Farming scratched out a pair of runs in the first and ninth innings to record the win. In the first, Ian Hoffarth and Zach Posterick walked. Both runners advanced on an infield grounder by Randy Lockridge, and Ian scored on a wild pitch.
After seven innings of goose eggs, Nick Mergen led off the ninth with a single to right. After a strikeout, Ian hit into a fielder's choice, and then proceeded to steal second base. Zach reached base for the fifth time during the afternoon when he launched a hard single to the outfield, scoring Ian with Farming's second run.
With the win, Farming improves to 2-1 in the Stearns County League--South Division. This week the Flames travel to St. Wendel on Friday for an 6:15pm exhibition game, and then host Lake Henry on Sunday at 1:30pm. Come on out and cheer the ballclub on -- they're off to a nice start.
