Meire Grove scored five runs in the sixth inning on their way to a 10-7 victory over the Flames on Sunday afternoon.
Farming scored a run in the second inning on Ryan Schleper's single, with Aaron Nett scoring. In the eighth, the Flames made a game of it by plating six runs. Another Ryan single scored Aaron again with the first run. Brandon Bokinskie nailed a two run single, and then Chris Weseler hit a three-run homer with Josh Linn and Brandon scoring.
John Theis went the first four innings for the Flames. Also pitching were Ian Hoffarth, Aaron Nett, and Ryan Schleper.
This was Aaron's last game with the Flames for awhile; he is going to Rome this week to continue his education and will be there for at least a couple of years. He was removed from the mound in the ninth inning and received a standing-O from the crowd. Thanks for the memories Aaron -- you've been an important part of the ball club and community for many years, and we wish you well.
Next up for the Flames is a first-round playoff game next Sunday, July 18, at Lake Henry. Game time is 1:30pm. |
