Former St. Francis Xavier Baseball Academy student Logan Seifrit was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 33rd round of the first year Major League Baseball Amateur Draft earlier in the week.  Logan who currently attends Vauxhall High School in Southern Alberta got his start attending baseball camps that were organized locally by Sheen Bromley and Reg Rivard when he was still in elementary school.  Logan then enrolled in St. Thomas More Junior High School where he attended the FX Baseball Academy for three years from 2007 to 2010.  Logan definitely showed promise on the mound with his arm strength and athleticism throughout his earlier years and professional scouts were made well aware of his abilities at a young age.  This included participating in MLB identification camps when he was underage, coaching staff contacting MLB organizations that they have relationships with including Milwalkee, Houston and San Diego, it also included a recommendation to attend the Mizuno Camp in Toronto and showcase trips arranged to play with the Langley Blaze which is where Brett Lawrie got his start.  Logan eventually got his start with Team Canada when he was a member of the FX Baseball Academy and had a two year run that saw him travel all over North America which gave him ultimately the best chance to get drafted of any other baseball player in Canada.  Logan who was drafted two rounds earlier will join former FX Academy graduate Cory Scammell who was also drafted by Seattle last year in the MLB draft.  Logan still has the option to attend school at Pensacola Junior College in Florida if he does not sign a contract by July 15th.  Congratulations go out to the Seifrit family and to Logan for all his hard work!!
