3 And Easy For Locos

Locomotion 3 – 0 Cranford Rush

Patience was the watchword for the Locos in their season opener against Cranford at Okner.  3 second half goals from Feinberg(2) and Steiner, the second being a fine cross and finish combination from both scorers put the Locos in the driving seat and they looked comfortable to see out the game in style.

After the match we caught up with Locos head coach Ed Duddy and he had these comments for us “The boys done really well.  We were dominating throughout, moving the ball well, and at halftime we talked about being patient and sticking to playing football, not panicking.  I thought they really did that well in the second half, and it’s given us a cracking start to the season!”

Although manager Tom Kelly could not be quoted directly, he was thought to be ‘very impressed’ with the steps forward the boys are making.

The stand out this weekend was that every player seemed to contribute and bring a different look onto the field – “We have a lot of weapons” said Duddy.  “If things aren’t working, we are lucky to have players we can bring in all over the field who can change the game on a turn”.

A WORD FROM ED…

Combination plays are the best way to get quickly in behind defences.   1-2 passing and overlapping can really open up gaps in defence as they tend to draw defenders towards the ball as you move into the space they vacate.  The only important thing to ensure is that you return the ball into their path rather than behind them or straight to their feet – allow them to run onto the ball without checking their stride.
