SAVANNAH LADY WARRIORS WINS 2009 WBCBL CHAMPIONSHIP
Savannah 74
Chicago 72
"This year was a great National Tournament held in Tampa, Florida. I was so proud of my girls and the way they stuck together through all their adversity. I thank God for my Assistant Coach Latisha Barnett who stepped up when I was sick. She kept the ladies focused and on track. I have never seen through my years of coaching, seen six young ladies play with much heart. We
played four games over the course of the tournament and no one would
believe that six ladies played and won the National Championship. We prayed before each game for strength and to stay focus. We
kept our eyes on the prize which was God allowing us to win to prove to
ourselves and that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens
us. It’s also amazing how we won this year championship with the same score we lost last year in the championship. The Lady Warriors have made history in Savannah, Georgia and this is a year to remember. Every team we played was competitive and there was a lot of talent in this Championship. The WBCBL has talented young ladies that are well equipped and talented enough to play in the WNBA or overseas. These ladies play for free and show a lot of heart to compete. I ask God to continue to bless this league, players, coaches and owners."
