Posted May 18/13 - HUTCHINSON SPARKS LIONS WITH SIX 3-POINT FG's OFF BENCH

Hollywood, FL---After a rocky start in last week's season opener, the Lions found their groove against the Florida Knighthawks to advance to 2-0 on the season. Last year the Lions topped the century mark against the Knighthawks on a 102-84 final score. This year that goal was achieved by both teams, but the Lions came out victorious 101-100 in overtime.

The Lions were sparked by Arafat Hutchinson's six 3-point fg's off the bench. In the closing seconds of the the fourth quarter, Hutchinson connected on an open 3 pointer that tied the game at 88 apiece sending the game into overtime. Hutchinson finished with 22 points (6/8 three point fgs) 4 assists & 3 rebounds.

The Lions led by as many as 16 points in the 4th quarter. Much like their season opener, turnovers again plagued the Lions, allowing the Knighthawks to go on a 22-4 run to take a 73-71 lead. The Knighthawks got big inside play from 6'3 forward, Angela Williams, who finished with 21 points on the night.

Kristen Green led the Lions with 25 points 15 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. LaShonda Gaines added 21 points and 7 assists. Shirley McCall also chipped in a double double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. The Lions will have a bye week and will be back in action at home on June 1st against Miami Rain.
