Note: IN ORDER TO BE CLEARED TO TRYOUT, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PHYSICAL COMPLETELY FILLED OUT (ONLINE), SIGNED AND TURNED IN ON CAMPUS IN THE FRONT OFFICE BEFORE TRYOUTS BEGIN. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT TO BRING IT TO TRYOUTS. YOU MUST HAND ME A YELLOW CARD THAT THE SCHOOL ISSUES YOU ONCE YOUR CLEARED TO TRYOUT. YOU MUST ALSO BE ACADEMICALLY ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM.

2016 Team Selection Information

 

Team Selections are based on a variety of factors including

• player performance during tryouts

• individual team position needs

• player athleticism and volleyball potential

• chemistry on/off the court with teammates (plays well with others)

• individual player goals

• player performance and competition history

• character and attitude history

 

Team numbers and selections will be determined by the entire coaching staff and be finalized and posted following tryouts. (between 10-12)

 

CCA offers three team opportunities: (PLEASE NOTE FRESHMAN TEAM IS TBD)

    True Freshman Team (9th graders only)

For players with hustle and athleticism who are willing and able to learn volleyball skills. Additional goals are to:

• learn to be effective team members

• raise volleyball IQ

• develop players all-around in more than one position

• provide more playing time opportunities

    Junior Varsity (9-11th grade)

For players that have the fundamentals down and are learning more advanced techniques/systems and preparing for the top level. Additional goals are to

• increase tempo in system

• learn more specific mechanics, strategy and tactics for specific positions and situations

• develop more competitive team concept

    Varsity (9-12th grade)

For players with the character, physical ability and experience to perform at the CIFSD Division 1 level. Additional goals:

• thrive in competitive environment

• be effective role models and support younger players

• be a positive voice for your team and school in the community

 

Varsity Team Selection

To be selected for the Varsity team a player needs to be able to:

• always work hard in practice to improve their game

• compete effectively in Division 1

• demonstrate on target character including: respect, responsibility, cooperation, honesty and courage

• take playing risks and push their ability boundaries

• recover from failure and learn from it

• train hard and give 110% at all times

• consistently be part of scoring opportunities on both offense and defense

• accept being trained to play at her maximum potential
