2024 Winter Training

This winter we will be running a few different High School programs and all of them are now online and open for registration.

Bat Speed/Performance Hitting Program

This program combines hitting instruction with core strength training to maximize your offseason development. This will be a physically challenging program for mature athletes. Our goal is to bridge the gap between hitting development and strength to provide athletes with a well-rounded hitting session. Each athlete will be assessed using the latest hitting technology (HitTrax, Rapsodo, Blast, K-Vest). The goals are to improve how fast the body rotates, to increase bat speed, and to maximize batted ball velocity. This program will be led by Devery Van De Keere, Christian Raytek and the rest of the PBL staff.

What you will receive:

-Technical breakdown of the swing

-Use of hitting technology to monitor and track progress

-Integrated approach to bat speed and power development

-Strength training exercises to improve bat speed

Catching Development Program

The UBC Baseball catching development program is for players looking to take their catching development to the next level. Participants will learn the foundational skills of receiving, blocking, and throwing. They will also develop their quickness, flexibility and reaction skills with game like competitions and drills. This program will be led by Devery Van De Keere and Kenny Scott.

Arm Care & Velocity Program

For both pitchers and position players, arm strength is one of the easiest ways to assess players when progressing to the next level and one of the first things coaches see when recruiting a player. The focus on the program will be on developing both arm strength and speed through functional throwing drills, high intent training, and education on topics like strength training, nutrition, recovery and more. Participants are encouraged to begin throwing at least 2 weeks before the program start date in order to maximize the 6 weeks of development time.

As a part of this program you will work with a group of extremely experienced coaches who represent years of professional and college playing experience. Eric Hegadoren began his playing career with the Victoria Eagles, before attending Yavapai College, followed by two years playing professionally in the frontier league. James Bradwell graduated from the North Shore Twins program before playing with the UBC Thunderbirds followed by three years of professional experience in the frontier league and most recently winning playoff MVP with the Welland Jackfish.
