Royals Split pair of games

Posted May 26, 2011

The Marysburg Royals played two games over the last two days.  The first game was against the Saskatoon Smoking Guns.  The Royals came out flat.  The bats were silent, the defense was poor with four errors, which didn't help starter Paul Strueby's cause as he gave up 8 runs in three innings with only four runs being earned.  Luke Strueby went in to pitch in the fourth and shut the Guns down over the next three innings and the Royals woke up at the plate, stroking out 8 hits in the final four innings while pushing 7 runs across the plate.  Braden Bauml and Geoff Strueby led the way offensively with a pair of hits each.  It was not enough to overcome the poor start and the Royals lost 8-7.

The Royals returned to action the very niext night as they took on the first place Saskatoon Outlaws.  The boys came out flying as they pounded out five hits in the first inning which lead to four runs.  Starter Bevin Ledingham pitched a gutsy 4 and 2/3's and Mathew Strueby came in and finished up the game and the Royals won by a score of 7-3.  The Royals played solid defense behind the pitchers and offensively the bats were big as they had 10 hits. Curtis Strueby, Cole Bauml, and Kyle Yarskie had two hits a piece to lead the Royals attack.
