The Canora Supers travelled to Yorkton on Thursday, June 23rd to take on the Parkland Padres on a warm, muggy day. Not only was the weather warm, but so was the Supers offence, as they erupted for 14 hits and 8 runs in an 8-1 victory.
Leading the way offensively for the Supers was Greg Andreychuk, who was 3 for 3 with a 2 run double in the first inning and 2 singles. He also scored two runs. Travis Fogg, Ryan Kitchen, Derek Palagian, and Darcy Blommaert each had two singles to help the cause. Brandon Gress, Trevor Latham, Clayton Malanowich each pitched in with one hit apiece. The Supers put up 2 runs in the top of the first, 3 in the top of the 3rd, and 2 in the top of the 4th to put the game out of reach.
As hot as the bats were, the pitching was even better, as starter Derek Palagian tossed 5 solid innings, giving up just one run to pick up the victory to improve his personal pitching record to 4 wins and 0 losses on the year. Travis Fogg and Trevor Latham each tossed a scoreless inning respectively to finish off the game.
The Supers played a good game defensively as Ryan Kitchen made a nice pick up in the dirt at first base while Clayton Malanowich had a nice sliding catch in center field. Randy Brenzen made his debut with the Supers, making a few catches while playing a solid left field.
With the win, the Supers improve to 8 wins and 3 losses on the season. Their next action is Monday, June 27 as they make the journey to Melville to take on the Bison. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm under the lights at Pirie Field.
