Fogg Dominates Bison, Supers Win Big

Posted June 27, 2011

On Monday June 27 in Melville, the Bison hitters seemed as though they were hitting in fog.....because Travis Fogg had his good stuff on the hill for the Supers, striking out 7 and giving up just 5 hits and one walk in a 9-1 victory for the visiting Canora Supers. The Bison threatened in the bottom of the first, as they sent 7 hitters to the plate with 4 base hits. The hits were not exactly scorched, but they just seemed to hit the holes. After scoring 1 run and loading the bases, Fogg got a crucial strikeout to get out of the jam. After that point, he gave up just one more hit, one walk, and only faced one batter over the minimum. It was utter dominace, as he cruised his way to his third win of the season to improve his record to 3 wins and 1 loss.

After scoring 1 run in the top of the 2nd to tie the game, the Supers erupted for 5 in the top of the third for a little breathing room and 3 more in the 4th to put the game out of reach. In total, the Supers had 12 hits. Trevor Latham had two singles and 2 runs scored with an rbi. Ryan Kitchen was 2 for 3 with a run and an rbi. Darcy Blommaert was 2 for 4 with a double, and local youngster Carson Dennis was 2 for 3 with 2 rbi while playing an exceptional hot corner. Derek Palagian had a triple and 2 runs scored, Zach Rakochy had a single and a run, Clayton Malanowich had a single, an rbi, 2 runs, while Dylan Toffan had a single, a run and a stolen base to round out the Supers attack.

With the win the Supers record improves to 9 wins and 3 losses. Their final regular season game will have to be rescheduled with the Swan River Reds at a later date. The Southeast Senior Baseball League had initially planned to have the regular season conclude by July 1st, but since some teams were unable to finish their schedule due to rain, the SESBL brass has granted an extra week for teams to get as many games in as possible. If the Supers win their final game vs Swan River, it will virtually guarantee them a first round bye, as the top 2 teams in the league advance to the 2nd round. The 3rd seed in the league chooses between the 5th or 6th seed, while the 4th seed plays the remaining team in a best of 3 first round series.
