Champs of Kenosee

The Outlaws participated in the Big Moose Tournament this past weekend in Kenosee/Carlyle, and after some heavy rain on Friday the boys prevailed and won the tournament. But before we recap the tournament, let's go over the festivities that occurred.

Thursday highlights saw a meaningless game of horseshoe turn into two stitches for Rex which he therefore inherited the new nickname "STITCHES". Friday highlights included the 3rd annual Outlaws vs. Stallions golf scramble which saw the Outlaws sweep the Stallions 5-0 in team play. There were lots of foot wedges and many lost balls that reappeared on the fairway however in all fun the boys dominated and hoisted the trophy. Lindy came second in the homerun derby. Even though he came up short he performed well and made his teammates proud. Saturday through Tuesday saw a lot of food eaten, booze being drank, and some classic stories being shared. We also found out some interesting facts about some players; Lindy has a hidden talent as a DJ and Rapper, Herp is as usual good in any sort of game, Ray Banduchi surfaced one last time, Sniff has the best ice maker, Vogul prefers afternoon rums, Skip was born to play golf, Rease is one of the greatest dad’s, Power inherited a new nickname: JUICEBOX, Frenchee takes too long to shoot in golf, Rex has gone soft since he moved to Calgary, Trev likes to take his game and go home. Flanny is one hell of a gamer, & Doctor J is a heck of a teammate and a skid.

Game 1 saw Outlaws mercy Carnduff Astros 9-1 in five innings. Frenchee dominated for most of the game tallying seven strikeouts. Offensively the outlaws were led by Trev who was 2-3 with 2 RBI's while every other outlaw got at least a hit. Game 2 saw the Outlaws struggle a bit but pounded out 15 hits in a 13-5 win over the Carlyle Cardinals. Lindy was on the mound and pitched effectively in the heat. Moose relieved him in the fifth and shut down the Cardinals down the stretch. Offensively the Outlaws were led by Power who went 4-5 while 3 other Outlaws had two hits. Rex went 2-2 with an RBI in two at bats.  In the championship game the boys played against the Regina A's in a very close 4-3 victory. Skip was on the mound and pitched one hell of a game pitching the complete game while striking out six batters. Offensively the boys struggled however some timely hits by Flanny, Herp, & Sniff sealed the win. This was the first time since 2003 that the Outlaws won the Big Moose tournament.

All in all it was a very successful weekend. The Boys got to bond and play ball, the wives & girlfriends got to hang out, kids got to run wild, our new pick up Flanny is an awesome ball player who will be joining us at provincials. Thanks to Kenosee and Carlyle for hosting a good tournament,
