The Royals participated in the Senior AA Provincial Championship this past weekend in Saskatoon! In the first game the Royals defeated the Saskatoon Blue Jays by a score of 12-6 with Braden Bauml and Paul Strueby pitching well in the victory. Their second game saw them up against the Yorkton Yankees, which the Royals won by a score of 16-3. Taylor Kjargaard and Paul Strueby pitched a very good game. This placed them in the semi final against the Holdfast Trappers. This game saw both teams aces square off in a rematch of the 2009 provincial final, however, this time the result was different as Colin Bauml pitched a complete game gem and the Royals won by a score of 8-3. Braden Bauml had four hits in the win. This put the Royals in the final against the Lloydminster Twins. Both teams have been longtime contenders, but have never won the title. Behind the complete game four hit masterpiece of Bevin Ledingham the Royals won by a score of 4-1. The defense was outstanding and the offense hit the ball hard with Braden Bauml, Dustin Emberley, and Luke Strueby getting the key clutch hits. This is the first AA title the Royals have ever won and they now advance to the Western Canadian Baseball Championship which will be held in Trail, B.C. on August 25th - 28th.
