The Outlaws participated in provincials this past long weekend. Things didn't go as planned and came up short in the semi finals losing to Lloydminster to end the weekend. Outlaws went 1-3 over the weekend. First game saw the Outlaws against Holdfast and after a shaky start being down 7-0, Outlaws clawed back but came up short with a 7-5 lost. Game two saw the boys against Lloydminster in a rematch from last year’s finals. It was a pitcher's duel for both teams until the bottom of the sixth were Lloyd got a run in and then added another six to win 7-0. Excellent pitching by Graham Duff who went 5 1/3. Outlaws only managed to get two hits. Sunday morning game was a do or die for each team and the 3rd place Outlaws in pool A faced the Blue Jays, second place in pool B. The Outlaws were firing on all cylinders scoring six runs in the first en route to a 12-5 win. Lindy got the win pitching the complete game. Game four was the semi final tilt against Lloyd again. If you were a fan of hitting then you would have loved this game. There were six lead changes, seven pitchers used, 7 hit by a pitch (all Outlaws), a ton of walks, & a ton of strikeouts. This all led to the Outlaws losing 15-14 and ending their provincial run.
It was a disappointing weekend, Sunday seemed hopefully but many things went wrong for the Outlaws and just couldn't muster enough magic to go to the finals. Bats were hot and cold, defence & pitching were not as dominate as years past.
Speaking of the finals, a huge congrats goes out to the Marysburg Royals winning the championship. Well deserved. Marysburg was clearly the strongest team over the weekend and it showed. This was their first Provincial title. Good luck in western's boys!! Special Thanks to the pickups, all of them played well. A huge thanks goes out to all the volunteers who helped out over the weekend. The tournament wouldn't have been a success without all the helped. Everyone that helped with 50-50, beer gardens, front gate, grounds crew, bbq, & anything else.
Although the Outlaws didn't win, they're still in playoffs for city. Outlaws have three more regular season games. Tonight against the Blue Jays @ 6:30, & a doubleheader tomorrow against the Dodgers & Stallions. City playoff will begin this Saturday.
