Bulldogs Just Miss at Chance to Repeat
Posted August 30, 2011

The Burnaby Bulldogs came away with a Silver Medal at the recent Baseball Canada Senior Championships in Miramishi, NB.
The Bulldogs, looking to be the first team to repeat since 2004 2005, when the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry (NS) won back to back titles, fell just short by losing in the Gold Medal Game to a very strong Windsor Stars club from Ontario.
The Dogs finished the round robin up with a 3 and 1 record after wins against the Chatham Ironmen (Hosts) 3 - 2, the Brandon Marlins (MB) 10 - 0 and the Halifax Canadians (NS#2) 5 to 1, before losing to Windsor 6 to 4 to close out the preliminary round.
In the Quarter Finals, the Bulldogs came up against the St. Johns Capitals from Newfoundland. Always a scrappy team, the Capitals battled hard until the Dogs pulled away in the second half to win 7 0.
The Semi Finals saw a rematch between the Bulldogs and the Host Chatham Ironmen before a standing room only crowd announced at over 3500 people. In a very close game, Burnaby managed to dampen the spirits of the partisan crowd by winning 4 to 1 and booking a spot in the final with defending a championship on their minds.
After a hurricane delay that pushed the Gold Medal game back to Monday evening, the Bulldogs lost their momentum and fell short of their goal following an 8 to 2 lose to a deserving and classy Windsor team.
The Bulldogs would like to thank the entire organizing committee and the host Ironmen for a tremendous job of hosting Canadas top championship
