    • In the series of life, Tom Klement may not have won a lot of games but it's probably safe to say he was batting 500. His skills may have been limited, but what he had he used to the very best of his ability and played with gusto. He was an avid sports fan, reading the sports section of the newspaper from cover to cover. He knew all the stats, and was usually good for an argument regarding any of them at any given time. Like his beloved MN sports teams, Tom had a fan base with a complicated "hate-love" relationship. You hated to love him but you did it anyway, sitting in the stands for every one of his games, shaking your head at the dumb plays and cheering on the good ones. The feeling he could give you was like that of a grand-slam in the bottom of the 7th. Exciting as it was, the game wasn't over so you still needed to be ready for anything. He always kept it interesting and, whatever happened, his goofy expressions made it all worthwhile as we were rolling our eyes or laughing or both. Win or lose, playing hard and having fun was all that really mattered in the end. It was his love of the game that made him infectious. He was one of a kind, a special friend; and if he called you "friend", you can bet you were special too.

On January 15, 2022 Tom played his final game of the series and won his wings. Our MVP, our lead-off man, our little buddy Tom, Kono, Klem, is now our Angel in the outfield. He was and always will be loved by many. He will be missed. We just hope he knew that.
Here's to you, Tom, in that big stadium in the sky. Keep an eye on us and help us add a few more on the scoreboard once in a while, OK?
