Posted May 30, 2012
The weather finally cooperated, and the Canora Supers got their first win of the season, pounding out 12 hits and 10 runs with a convincing 10-1 victory over the Melville Bison.
Travis Fogg started his first game of the season on the mound, going the distance scattering just 5 hits over 7 innings while striking out 5, giving up just 1 run in picking up the victory.
Four Supers had multi-hit games, including Zach Rakochy who was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored to lead the way. Evan Rostotski went 2 for 3 with a double, 3 rbi's and a run scored, Ryan Kitchen was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while Trevor Latham was 2 for 3 with 2 rbi's and 2 runs scored.
Kody Rock had a clutch 2 rbi single in the bottom of the 3rd to give the Supers some breathing room. He also scored a run. Greg Andreychuk was 1 for 2 with a walk and 2 runs scored, while Derek Palagian also had a base hit.
The Supers fielded the ball pretty well and made a few nice plays to end any Bison attack. With the win, the Supers improve to 1 win and 1 loss on the season. The next game is Thursday, May 31 as the Yorkton Yankees pay a visit to Al Sapieha Field. First pitch is 6:15.
