Calanchie Silences Supers Bats
Posted May 31, 2012
After a 12 hit performance Wednesday night against the Melville Bison, the Canora Supers could not figure out starting pitcher Logan Calanchie, producing only two hits in a 4-0 loss at home to the Yorkton Yankees.
Supers pitcher Derek Palagian tossed 6 innings, giving up 7 hits, 4 runs (all unearned), with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts while suffering the loss. Darcy Blommaert pitched a scoreless 7th inning to finish up, striking out one batter.
The offense was silent, as only Trevor Latham and Evan Rostotski could manage a single apiece. The Supers had a glorious chance to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third as the first two batters of the inning reached base on walks. After a successful sacrifice bunt by Ryan Kitchen to get runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out, the Supers ended up stranding the baserunners. Logan Calanchie brought his A-game to the field, and dominated the Supers on this night.
With the loss, the Supers record falls to 1 win and 2 losses on the season. The Supers next game is on Sunday, June 3rd as they travel to Yorkton to play the Jr. Cardinals. First pitch is 6:15 at Jubilee Park diamond #2. The next home game is Wednesday, June 6th as the Yorkton Jr. Cardinals pay a visit to Al Sapieha Field. Game time is also 6:15
