Ugly is only one word that best describes the Reds Baseball as of late. First it was ugly wins now its ugly losses. The Reds are on a 5 games skid right now moving their record from 6-0 to 6-5. After the Thieves handed a game to the Reds Wednesday and the Reds handed it back in a 9-7 loss, they have dropped 3 more in the Wolf Lake Tournament this past weekend. The Reds lost a close game Saturday morning at the hands of Wolf Lake 3-2. The Reds had too many opportunities slip away. They left 6 base runners on with 5 of the runners in scoring position. It's been a long tough go of things as of late Manager Justin Johnson said "We have let some close games get away recently. It kinda leaves a bitter taste in a person's mouth, knowing how close you are to snapping a losing streak or even starting a winning streak." Sunday the Reds took on the Cass Lake Reds in the a showdown of red teams. However the game would end in favor of the Cass Lake Reds 4-3 in extra innings. Matt Morin pitched for the Reds and threw a great game striking out 6 and only giving up 1 earned run. The Crookston Reds had many chances again to put things away in the game but failed to do so. The Crookston Reds again left 13 guys on base and this time 9 of the 13 were left in scoring positions, including leaving the bases loaded twice and stranding runners on second twice with both doubles being lead off doubles. It is really tough to win games when errors pile up the way they did. The Reds now play hated rival the Ada A's on Wednesday 7pm at Jim Karn Field.
