Supers Fall 9-3 to Royals
Posted June 20, 2012
The Supers hosted the Willowbrook Royals on Wednesday, June 20 looking to inch closer to second place in the SESBL standings. The weather finally cooperated, and the game was played. At the end of the game, the Supers maybe wished it would have rained, as the Royals rained on the Supers parade with a 9-3 victory.
The Supers got off to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first with singles from Greg Andreychuk, Graham Lamb, Derek Palagian and a two 2rbi double by Evan Rostotski into right center. After that, the wheels fell off, and the Supers just could not recover. Willowbrook put up two runs in the top of the second, and three more in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good.
Starting on the mound for the Supers was Derek Palagian. He threw five innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on six hits, five walks while hitting a batter. Although he did not have his best stuff on the night, he was able to keep the game close. Evan Rostotski came in relief in the top of the sixth inning, giving up three runs on three hits with three walks to finish the game off.
Offensively, Graham Lamb led the way going 3 for 3 with a run scored, a stolen base, and reached base in his final at bat getting hit by a pitch. Greg Andreychuk was 2 for 4 with two singles and a run scored. Derek Palagian was 1 for 3 with a run scored, an rbi and a walk, while Evan Rostotski had a double with two rbi's. Ryan Kitchen also smacked a double in the bottom of the seventh to round out the Supers attack.
With the loss, the Supers record drops to 4 wins, 3 losses and a tie. The Supers will travel to Langenburg on Friday, June 22 to take on the Indians in a makeup game at 6:15 pm. Travis Fogg is once again scheduled to start pitching against his home town team.
