Supers Erupt for Twelve Runs in Swan River

Posted June 24, 2012

On Sunday June 24, the Supers were to host a game with the Langenburg Indians. However, due to the unavailability of umpires in Yorkton and surrounding area, the game was cancelled. Also on Sunday, the Yorkton Orioles were to travel to Swan River to play a game. Since the Orioles did not have enough players, they were forced to postpone their game. The only option for the Supers was to try to play their makeup game at Swan River on Sunday after some last minute planning. Low and behold, the Supers were able to find enough players able to make the treck to Swan River, and come away with a 12-6 victory.

Making his first pitching appearance for the Supers was Mark Cuthill. As a member of the Yorkton Orioles, he has made a few appearances this year, so he was willing and able to log some innings on the hill. At the end of the game, Cuthill had pitched the full seven innings in picking up the victory. He gave up six runs (three earned), while walking seven and striking out seven. Cuthill was able to get out of a couple jams, in particular the top of the first inning as the Reds loaded the bases with none out, but were unable to put across any runs.

Offensively, the Supers pounded out twelve hits, and took advantage of some wild Reds pitching as they drew twelve walks and had five batters hit by a pitch. All nine players had at least one hit on the day to help the cause. Leading the way was Myk Rostotski, going 2 for 3 with a run scored, 3 rbi's while drawing a walk and getting hit by a pitch. Zach Rakochy was 2 for 3 with 2 rbi's, 2 stolen bases, 2 walks and a run. Evan Rostotski was 2 for 3 with an rbi, a stolen base and two runs scored. Ryan Kitchen was perfect at the plate going 1 for 1 with a season hish 4 walks, a stolen base, while scoring two runs. Trevor Latham had 3 rbi's and Greg Andreychuk stole 3 bases. Carson Dennis and Derek Palagian each scored two runs to round out the offensive attack.

With the victory, the Supers record improves to 5 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie. Their next game is Monday, June 25 as they travel to Yorkton to take on the Yankees. Game time is 8:00 PM.
