Supers Lose Close Contest to Yankees
Posted June 25, 2012
On Monday June 25 the Supers hit the road for a game under the lights in Yorkton vs the Yankees. The weather was warm, it was humid, and a great night for a ball game. As warm as the weather was, the bats for the Supers were pretty cold as they could only generate five hits and two runs in a 4-2 loss. It was one of those nights where the Supers made decent contact but just could not hit any holes.
Leading the way for the Supers was Darcy Blommaert with a pair of singles and a run scored. Travis Fogg was 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored, Trevor Latham was 1 for 3 with a stolen base and an rbi, while Carson Dennis was 1 for 3 with an rbi single to round out the offensive attack.
Derek Palagian started on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up five hits, four runs (three earned) with 3 strikeouts and eight walks. Despite being wild, he was able to keep the game close.
With the loss, the Supers once again fall back to .500 with 5 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie. Currently the Supers are tied for third in the SESBL standings with the Melville Bison and Yorkton Jr. Cardinals who both have .500 records. The Supers will have a break in the schedule as their next scheduled game is Tuesday, July 3rd as they head to Melville to take on the Bison. Game time is 7:30 at Pirie Field
