It was a tough morning on the first truly hot day of our baseball season. Playing at 9AM while Stampede is on is not what the Dbacks prefer.

It was a bad omen when half of the starting roster showed up 15 minutes before game time. Then the Giants threw their ace Marc Wilson who apparently had not partaken in the festivities the night before. He was dealing and their defense was solid as he went a complete game striking out 13. The Dbacks could only muster 3 hits and a walk by Flat Brim. They were swinging hot sticks against hard throwing Tom Gayef who after a shaky start at the Kelowna tournament was again not at his best and combing that with the terrible outfield defense that would be seen all day; was not a recipe for success. The Giants managed to put across 6 on the big righty.

MVP - Brent Cooper          Vag - Foddy

After the poor performance in game one Snap Show had to think fast and find a way to get the team going. Quickly went to the truck and brought the cooler on to the bench and instituted free beer Saturday. This clearly got the team going with the Dbacks jumping out to a lead in the first and then having the whole team chipping in on the offensive side. Wyllie was on the mound and dazzled the Giants hitters with a mix of slow and slower knucklers. His arm was feeling good today so he was able to muster up 6 fastballs. The Giants made a game of it in the 6th, thanks to some more shaky defense in the outfield and were able to tie it up in the top half. Freeborn came in for the 7th all jacked up after dotting 10 year olds at a Blue Jays camp and turned the Giants aside earning himself the win. Clutch hitting and some confused Giants on Scooters Jake Taylor esque bunt (clearly all of the double switches and substitutions had gotten to them not to mention the two black and one Mexican cowboys we had on the bench.) This lead to bases loaded none out. After a K from Coop, Frenchy came in and ripped a single almost making up for his terrible throw from the outfield in game 1.

MVP - Coop                 Vag- Tom, Foddy, Trask

After the game free beer Saturday was a success as we watched the Cardinals flounder without the sound leadership of Nelly to guide them to victory. The Cards lost both and after the game the Guns then spent the next 4 hours in the batting cage and running poles hoping this dedication leads to not getting stomped in the playoffs. Highlight of the game was Hans getting tossed. We gave him a beer for his cause.

Next Up Tuesday at 6:30 Trask is on the bump against the Dukes.
