Supers Draw First Blood
Posted July 17, 2012
The Supers opened up their best of 3 first round playoff series with a 6-2 victory over the Yorkton Junior Cardinals at Al Sapieha Field. The threat of rain made things tense all day long, but Mother Nature cooperated and allowed the game to take place. When all was said and done, the game was completed without a hitch, and the Supers went home happy.
Kody Rock paced the Supers with 2 singles, a double, 3 rbi's, a run and a stolen base. Zach Rakochy continued his stellar season with 2 singles, a stolen base and a run scored. Greg Andreychuk had 2 singles, a stolen base, 2 runs and an rbi. Trevor Latham had a double and a run, while Derek Palagian had an rbi single and a run. Travis Fogg had an rbi single, and Evan Rostotski had a single to round out the offensive attack.
On the mound, Travis Fogg had his usual steady performance, allowing 8 hits, 2 walks, 2 earned runs while pitching all 7 innings to pick up the win.
The Supers defence played well on the night, highlighted by turning two double plays.
The two teams will go back at it on Wednesday in Yorkton. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15. If the third game is necessary, it will be played immediately after under the lights.
